SAN DIEGO CHARGERS

The San Diego Chargers have been the local NFL team since 1961.

In the 1994 season, the Chargers made a Super Bowl appearance, but ended up losing to the San Francisco 49ers.

The Chargers won the AFC West championship in 2008 by beating the Denver Broncos 52–21. Head Coach Norv Turner has led the team since February, 2007; Turner is known as an offensive play mastermind. Outside linebacker Larry English from Northern Illinois was the Chargers' top pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.

The Chargers play their home games at Qualcomm Stadium (formerly known both as San Diego Stadium and as Jack Murphy Stadium), which is located in the Mission Valley neighborhood near the interchange of Interstate 15 and Interstate 8.

Qualcomm Stadium hosts the annual Pacific Life Holiday Bowl, as well as college football's San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.

The 2009 games start with preseason activity on August 15, when the Chargers host the Seahawks. Regular season play begins on September 14, 2009; the first game is an away game against the Raiders. Seasonal play continues until early January, 2010.

Season ticket prices start at $480 for the family section and progress to $900 for premium seats; season passes are available through the San Diego Chargers' website.

Luxury suites are also available for private functions during home games. In addition, memberships can be purchased for the Chargers Club, which features amenities such as exclusive Club lounges, early admission, waiter service to seats, and an upgraded menu. Single game tickets are available through Tickets.bz
